Event Outline
Financial Seminar for Young People (3 sessions) is a seminar structured for young adults and university students who want to learn the basics of household budget management and asset building and put them into practice. In the first session, participants will acquire knowledge about money and investment under the theme “What is ‘money’?” The session consists of two parts: the first part will be a talk on “The Role of Money” by Ms. Kumi Fujisawa, Chairperson of the Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies, and the second part will be a talk on “The Concept of Investment” by Mr. Kazushige Okuno, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Norinchukin Value Investments Co., Ltd. The presenter will be Ms. Tomu Muto of AKB48 Team K, a certified financial planner, and she will provide content that is easy-to-understand from a beginner’s perspective.
*This seminar is not limited to youth, but open to everyone.

Member of the female idol group AKB48 Team K
Ms. Tomu Muto graduated from Seikei University and completed her graduate studies at Seikei University in June 2021. She also passed the 2nd-grade Certified Skilled Professional of Financial Planning Exam in June 2021. She is a certified weather forecaster and an “active idol” weathercaster on the ABEMA news program “ABEMA Morning.”

Kumi Fujisawa
Chairperson, Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies
After working for investment management companies in Japan and abroad, Ms. Kumi Fujisawa started Japan’s first investment trust evaluation company in 1995, sold the company to Standard & Poor’s, a global rating agency, in 1999, and participated in the establishment of SophiaBank, a think tank, in 2000. In 2007, she was selected as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum and has visited more than 40 countries around the world. In addition to her public service as a member of deliberative committees of government ministries and as a public interest board member of the Japan Securities Dealers Association, she also serves as a board member of NPOs that address global issues and as an outside director of listed companies such as Toyota Tsusho Corporation and The Shizuoka Bank. In April 2022, she was appointed Chairperson of the Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies.

Kazushige Okuno
Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, Norinchukin Value Investments Co., Ltd. (NVIC)
Mr. Kazushige Okuno graduated from Kyoto University with a B.A. in Law, completed a Masters in Finance at the London Business School, and joined the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, Ltd. in 1992. He joined The Norinchukin Bank in 2003 after working at Chogin Securities and UBS Securities Japan, and has been in his current position since 2014. He is a rare pioneer in Japan who has been practicing “long-term selective investment,” which is similar to Buffett’s investment philosophy. His investment philosophy has led to high investment performance, and the total amount of funds managed for institutional investors has exceeded 400 billion yen. In order to make even more Japanese people wealthy, he has opened a huge fund originally intended for institutional investors, to individuals under the name “Obune.” He is the author of “Investing as an Education,” “Sensei, How Can I Become Rich?” and other works.
